Label It!

After completing a mail merge, personalizing a document to be sent to many, we are now ready to send this document out.  However, in order to do so we need to put the document in an envelope and affix a mailing label so that it can be delivered.  Similar to using mail merge to personalize a letter or other document, mail merge can also be used to generate labels of many sizes depending upon what is desired.  Labels can also be created without using the mail merge feature if the data source is not available.

Creating labels is very easy and many will find this task enjoyable.  Using Word 2010, you can create business labels, address labels, file folder labels, divider page inserts and more.  How might you use the label feature?

After watching the video links and reading through the step-by-step link provided above, use the mail merge feature to create mailing labels using the data source above.  For this project, we would like to use Avery US Letter labels size 5164, which will give us a sheet of 3.33" x 4" labels.  The format of these labels should look as follows:

Ms. Bianca Vega

5454 Crescent Drive

Muskego, WI 53150

After completing the merge, select all of the data on these generated labels and format the text by changing the font and size.  Make the data as large as possible on the label keeping related information on one line.  Note:  The text should remain in black for mailing purposes.  Save these lables as Mailing Labels and complete step two before submitting your work for review.

We now want to create return address labels either for ourselves or the Warrior's Warehouse (your choice!).  To do this, we are going to find a Word 2010 template that we feel is graphically appealing and we are going to use that to create return address labels.  Be sure to spend some time looking at options available in the various categories under labels before making your choice!  The template you choose should have a minimum of 30 labels per page.

Modify the template information as necessary for the return labels that you are creating.  You can modify the text size, font, and/or color as you desire.  Save these labels as Return Labels and upload your creative work for both parts of Label It to Edmodo!
