Righty or Lefty?
Left Handed? Right Handed? Ambivelous? Ambidextrous?
Although we are not going to debate whether one might be superior to the other, we do want to gather data from our classmates. Using Excel, we will create a class spreadsheet and then individually will chart the data. Use the data we collected in class to get started with this!
After inserting the data from our class to a spreadsheet, enhance the by creating a scatter-plot chart for both sets as data as well. In addition, analyze the data and include responses to each of the following questions:
- Using the drawing tools, draw the Ambidextrous Line, y=x and explain what this line would represent in words.
- What do the points above the line represent? Below the line?
- Explain the significance of points being near the line?
- About what percent of students in class appear to be left-handed versus right? Left-footed versus right? How does this compare with the percentage of the population that is left-handed? (use the Internet as a source to determine this)
- Try to find a correlation between the hands data and the feet data to evaluate whether right-handed people also tend to be right-footed. Explain and support your analysis.
Now change the following print options:
- show gridelines
- show column headings
- show row headings
- center vertically on the page
- center horiztonally on the page
- fit to one page by one page (either portrait or landscape - whichever displays larger)
