the Facts!
It is now time to get your real data! Open your bag of candy and let's get started!
- Click on the "Sheet 2" tab in your Excel file and rename it "the Facts!". Recolor the tab red.
- In cell A1, title the slide "[Your Name]'s Quality Control - the Facts!" Change the font, color, and size of the text as desired.
- Put the contents of your candy package into the clear bag and count the contents.
- In cell A3, key "Actual Count:". Widen column A so that this text remains in column A (does not extend into column B).
- Count the total number of candy pieces in your bag and record this number in cell B3.
- Beginning in cell A5 and working your way down the column, list the various colors of candy found in your bag.
- Count the number of each color of candy found in your bag, and record these numbers in the corresponding cell in column B.
- In cell A11, key "Total"
- In cell B11, create a formula to add the numbers above beginning with cell B5. Ensure that the total equals the count you recorded in cell B3. If it does not equal, begin counting again to verify your information before continuing.
- Insert a row above row 3 where you have the Actual Count recorded.
- Save!
- Write a reply to this assignment in Edmodo indicating your color counts for the M&Ms or Skittles to share this data with others to use in the near future.
Using the data in "the Facts" worksheet, let's now create a bar chart to show our actual data.
- Select the colors and number data from "the Facts" worksheet (do not include the totals).
- Create a bar chart of your choice (not stacked).
- Change the colors of each bar to represent the corresponding candy color.
- Change the chart layout so that the actual candy count is shown just after the bars in the chart.
- Delete the Legend or data series if one is present.
- Add a chart title above the chart called "[first name]'s the Facts!"
- Save!
