Dandy Candy...

Homework:  Before beginning this project, you must purchase a bag of plain M&Ms or original flavored Skittles.  You will be using one of these products for this project and cannot begin until you have this.  The Warrior's Warehouse does sell original Skittles if this is helpful for you.

You oversee quality control for the product you chose above and have determined that an Excel spreadsheet would be a great tool for this project.  Before getting started, it is important to plan and design the worksheet and give it an appropriate title.  Since this is your first task, more specific directions will be provided to assist you.  For this project, you will be making predictions, verifying information, comparing your data to two others in this class with the same product as you, and visually displaying the results of your data.

Please Note:  The eating of any candies from your bag will destroy the accuracy of results and will result in a zero for this project!  Upon successful completion of the project, you may eat the candies.  So please, do not eat the data!

Predictions...

The first step of this project is to make predications regarding the contents of your bag of candy prior to actually opening it.  You will create a spreadsheet and a pie chart which clearly identifies your predictions.  Click here to get started!

the Facts!

It is now time to get the facts - to actually open your bag of candy and identify the contents.  Please get a zip-lock baggie before beginning so that you can empty the contents into a clear bag as you work.  Click here to get started!

Comparison

Let's now compare your predictions with the facts!  You will now combine the information in another worksheet and create a line graph to display visually the differences.  Click here to get started!

Quality Control!

We now want to check the manufacturer's quality control.  To do this, you are going to gather information from some of your classmates with the same candy as you, use various formulas, and prepare some charts to visually display your results.  Click here to get started!

Specifications...

As companies manufacturer various products, they have standards that they have set to help with quality control.  For M&Ms and Skittles, there are specific color percentages that are used as a guideline.  Click here to determine how well your package of candy compared to the manufacturer standards!
