Editing a Database

  1. Open your Football Access database.

     

  2. In the Database Window Click on Tables to open the football table that you created already. Go to Design View. 

     

  3. Move your cursor below 2nd Color of Team in the column Field Name. Type in Quarterback for the Field Name, Text for the Data Type, and Current Quarterback for Description.

  4. Close the table (not the database). When asked if you want to save your table, Click Yes

     

  5. Open the football table and then enter the names of the current team quarterbacks into the table. Note: You may need to go online to find this information or consult with your neighbors! (Remember do not change anything with the ID AutoNumber as this is the Primary Key that Access automatically assigns for you just tab over it.)

     

  6. Close your table when done; save if prompted.

     

  7. We are now going to create a form with the Form Wizard.  

     

  8. Move all Available Fields on the left side to Selected Fields on the right side.  Now put ID back to the left side of the screen by clicking on it and using the single arrow.

     

  9. Choose Columnar for the layout of your form and Click Next

     

  10. Click Finish

     

  11. Now you can enter additional data for each of the following teams (you may need to look up colors and/or quarterback). Click on the icon at the bottom of window this will give you a blank form to fill in necessary data.

     

    Team

    Cincinnati Bengals

    Cleveland Browns

    Houston Texans

    Pittsburgh Steelers

    San Diego Chargers

    New Orleans Saints

       

  12. Close the window; save if prompted.
